How we talk to each other here

  • No judgment. People arrive at very different stages and none of them is wrong.
  • Share your experience, don’t prescribe. “This helped me” — not “you should”.
  • Respect privacy: never repost someone’s story or details outside this forum.
  • No medical advice, no medication recommendations, no diagnosing other members.
  • If someone is in crisis, encourage professional help — don’t try to manage it alone.

This forum is peer support, not medical care. Read the full notice.

It can be difficult to know what to do when someone you care about is struggling.

Talk? Give space? Offer practical help? Do absolutely nothing and just stay nearby?

There’s probably no universal answer.

For people who have been on either side of this: what made you feel genuinely supported? And what well-meant thing wasn’t actually helpful?
